I'll stick to these

I ordered these sticks on a recommendation from drum teacher Mike Michalkow. He said that he'd switched to them as his preferred stick.

The sticks are a well made, high quality item. Balance is equal and so is tone and weight. They are also just the right length for me and give me that little extra reach and power that I was looking for.

Delivery from Thomann was quick and to top it all their price was better than my local music shop!

As always, getting a Vic Firth stick is a good choice. This one is especially good for Funk music, as the stick is thick and heavy enough to allow for some heavy accents and also features a long taper for easier rimshots.

What I feel is a disadvantage is that the stick may be too thick for my taste, in comparison with the standard 5A. Since I play a lot of jazz I normally opt for even thinner than 5A sticks.

However, it is a signature stick and it has the "Jam Master" logo, which I think is really awesome.

These sticks are straight and built to spec. The have held up very well woth normal funk playing and plenty of rimshots. The extra length is great for ease of reach to cymbals

Im letzten halben Jahr hatte ich mich weitestgehend auf die regulären Vic Firth 5A Sticks (wer kennt sie nicht!) eingeschossen. Aber ich liebe ja auch die Abwechslung, deshalb dachte ich mir, warum nicht mal wieder ein bisschen rumprobieren...

Den Jam Master von Herrn Garibaldi wollte ich schon immer mal spielen. Sieht auf dem Bild interessant aus, und die Beschreibung des Herstellers liest sich auch nicht übel: "Barrel tip and extra long taper for great cymbal and rim shot response." Gleich mal ein Pärchen zur Ansicht geordert...

Wie immer bei VF sind das säuberlichst gearbeitete Sticks, absolut gleich im Pitch, perfekt gerade, keine rauhen Stellen, edle Haptik, wirklich piccobello! Gleich mal nen 5A zum Vergleich herangezogen:

Der Jam Master ist bei gleicher Griffstärke einen guten Zentimenter länger als der 5A. Lustigerweise ist der JM-Tip quasi der exakte 5A-"Teardrop" - allerdings um 1 Millimeter gekürzt, wodurch der schmalste Teil ganz vorne wegfällt. Der längere Taper (Halsverjüngung) beim JM lässt ein schnelleres, jazzigeres Feeling vermuten, dem war allerdings nicht so: Der Hals direkt unter dem Kopf ist breiter als beim 5A. Dies führt zusammen mit der Gesamtlänge zu einer überraschenden Kopflastigkeit, die ich anhand der Fotos und der Beschreibung so nicht vermutet hätte. Der 5A ist insgesamt definitiv leichter und schneller/filigraner bei Ridefiguren, während der JM mehr Rock'n'Roll zulässt.

Vielleicht ist der Jam Master eine nette Variation zum "Extreme 5A"? In jedem Fall ist er von sehr hoher Verarbeitungsqualität und daher klar empfehlenswert. Ein Zufriedenheitspünktchen Abzug gibt's lediglich wegen der etwas missverständlichen Produktbeschreibung des Herstellers.
