Harley Benton JB-75MN LH SB Vintage Series

Ho voluto acquistare questo basso per effettuare degli esperimenti a livello di liuteria, spinto dalla dilagante pubblicità e dal ben parlare di altri utenti sui prodotti HB.
Visto il prezzo mi aspettavo che non sarebbe stato il top per quanto riguarda la fabbricazione, ma nemmeno che fosse così scadente.
In particolare, nel mio caso, le viti tendono a spanarsi troppo facilmente (anche perché i fori in cui alloggiano sono tutti storti), e le meccaniche tendono ad allentarsi e quindi poi a roteare su se stesse per via della forza tirante delle corde.
Molto grave, anche per un basso economico, il fatto che la corda di SOL sia molto vicina al bordo del manico (seppur suonabile) a discapito della corda di MI adagiata molto più all'interno con la raggiatura del manico che di conseguenza si trova sfalsata rispetto alle corde.
Punto di forza del basso è sicuramente il colpo d'occhio, la colorazione è di ottima fattura e dona un bell'aspetto allo strumento.
Per quanto riguarda il suono, secondo me sempre un po' intubato e ovattato, è in linea con la fascia di prezzo.
In conclusione trovo che questo basso sia perfetto per chi si vuole approcciare alla musica, ma penso che non vada oltre questo.

Onestamente non so come fanno a chiedere questo prezzo ridicolo per uno strumento di questa qualità. È chiaro che non si tratta di un basso da 1000 euro ma secondo me è tranquillamente paragonabile a strumenti che costano 3 o 4 volte tanto. La cosa che secondo me merita di essere sottolineata è la build-quality, è solido, è assemblato bene, diversamente da altri bassi che cadono a pezzi dopo qualche settimana.

I mostly play guitar but wanted to have a play with bass having started out on bass when I was a kid but gave up quickly and then roll on 20 years. Didn't want something too expensive to dip my toes in and play at home. The price point on this bass for the quality you receive is startling.

I am going to get the negatives out of the way real quick as the list is really short:
1. It is pretty damn heavy. Probably it's biggest fault. However, for playing sitting down in the studio it is fine for me. If you have a back condition (like I do), then playing standing up is probably going to cause you problems.
2. It can be a bit noisy on the frets if over plucked, probably can be sorted by adjusting to my preference. But that's how it is out of the box, plus side is that it has very low action.
3. This can be a +/- point as I am getting used to it, but it is a bit of a baseball bat neck, i.e. pretty chunky. Makes me stretch a little more than I would like, have smallish hands so a thinner neck maybe easier for me. But if you like chunky necks then this is great. The neck is smooth with a satin finish that is easy to play.

Good points:
1. Fretwork is great, zero complaints.
2. Tuners seem stable and hold tuning well.
3. Pickups sound fine with the Roswells, just how you would expect a Jazz Bass to sound.
4. Finish is really nice. Zero blemishes not faults at all (have checked very carefully).

Is it a bass I will cherish forever, maybe? Maybe not. I expect if I stick with the bass as well as guitar then I will upgrade at some stage. But this is more than good enough for at least a couple of years before I look to offload or donate it. Really enjoying playing on it so far.

Quality built and sounds super for the price, no corners cut for the price paid, I don't play bass myself, always wanted to try, so decided I would buy a reasonable costing bass, without spending too much too soon, especially when I'm only a beginner bass player, but I did give it to someone who do and said I'll play one of two songs in the band, well ended up playing this for the complete 2 hours on stage, and loved it,
Can't honestly go wrong with this axe for the price,
