Amazing value for money. If you're in the market for some 80's/90's digital cheese, the waveforms here provide. The filter and chorus also sound great. The unusual architecture and poor controls make it unsuitable as a first synth IMO, but for more experienced users it's pretty much a no-brainer.

Between four single-cycle waveform oscillators per voice, a "vector" mixing approach with a dedicated mix envelope, and a paraphonic filter, you'll probably find at least something new and interesting to explore here. And exploring is what you'll be doing since the factory presets are mostly crap and don't do a good job of representing the synth's capabilites.

It's the rare toy synth that isn't just a worse version of something else thats readily available, while also being very usable sound-wise. It gives most other synths in its market segment the run around before you even consider the fact that it's half the price.

The only real complaint I have is the buggy firmware (as of v 1.12). If you have to cut costs, then this is probably the place to do it since it can be fixed afterwards, but its still annoying to have features work in a weird way or not at all. Some usability issues arise from the small form factor and mediocre component quality, but that kind of comes with the territory. The keyboard and sequencer in particular are pretty much unusable, so you'll need some kind of external controller.

Great sound, fun to program, costs pennies, bottom line is just get one if you're into synthesizers.

What a bargain and fantastic sound!

Now to own something i could never aford as an original and have it in the form factor that is comes in - this is really my dream that came true. I can only say that Bheringer is making history with their endeavours. And that these amazing synths will be the classics of the future! Buy one now.

Hardware did not meet expectation

This mini synth seems to good to be true for the price, and in a lot of ways the price should say a lot about what to expect. Firstly, a midi keyboard to hook up to this is a must as the touch sensitive pads on the unit are not really going to be any use to you outside of maybe creating little sequences on the unit. The included voices are just OK. You can fiddle around with the unit and make them more interesting, but unless you know what you are doing creating your own patches from scratch is the only option. You can of course buy 3rd party patches for this device, but this is where my unit let me down. I downloaded some patches I wanted to upload to the unit. The Behringer Synthtribe app is used to handle this process and also keep the units firmware up to date. Unfortunately either a hardware bug with my unit or software bug with the latest Synthtribe 2.7.1 kept cyling my unit through an unecessary firmware upgrade which kept looping. This left me unable to backup the patches on the unit or install new ones which was a dissappointment. I contacted Behringer but am still awaiting a response. On the back of this I decided to return my unit for a refund.
