Great little vintage style AlNiCo speaker

I bought this to drop in to a VHT Special 6 combo (also bought from Thomann) and it has made a massive difference to the amp! The "small amp" boxey sound is all but gone and the tone of the amp is vastly improved too. Highs are nice and crisp without being shrill, Mids are vastly improved and the bottom end is a lot more pronounced but still tight and responsive without being "flappy". It has really added a lot to this little 5W amp.

Came very well packaged indeed, price is great and delivery was fast (all what I have come to expect from Thomann now).

Would definitely recomend if you are looking to give your amp a lease of new life and a nice vintage tone.

Good for some aplications!

I put two of these in a closed MDF (DIY) cab, and I think I had higher expectations. The sound is ok, close to good, depending on what tone you seek. It's got ok guitar crunch with some sweetspots, not so special bassdefinition, perhaps due to the cab used(bear in mind). Did not wow me, but might do so in conjunction with a nicely paired 15" incher. Which is my plan..

Great vintage sound

Excellent upgrade for any amp - if you want a vintage tone, there really is nothing like Jensen Alnico. Transformed my old Peavey Classic 20.

Precise and rich sound

I put this speaker into a spare Peavey Royal cabinet that I adapted for a 10". I planned to use it with an Orange Micro Terror, a head that to me sounds overpowering and messy through 8 or 4 ohm speakers. To my ears it works perfectly. The head now has a good clean sound (I also changed the 12AX7 preamp tube for a 12AT7, less gain) as well as the typical orange gain sound. The speaker has broad and precise response across the spectrum. This is not the first time I bought a Jensen speaker, BTW. I put a Chicago series 12/70, their budget line, into a Peavey Bandit 75 (bought used), and it made that amp sound like a Bassman 100, which I used to own.
