I think the electronic music creation scene has been missing out on a drum machine that does everything on Perkons style level. It's not analog, but packs some serious punch. It has 4x 909 style sequencers, one for each sound engine and then it's just your imagination. Sheer joy of finding new beats, glitchy loops and whatnot is present every time using this piece of drum wizardry.

Only downside is that base sounds for each voice are somewhat limited, even though we get variations for each voice. I am hoping that some day software update would give us some editor or something, where we could create those base voices any way we like. But that is so minute problem that it doesn't even affect my star rating regarding it's sound and features.

Awesome drum synth! Perfect for proper techno, IDM, electronica and beyond.

What to say about this beast... I have and tried a LOT of drum machines, I would say almost all the known ones, and this thing is special. Not sure if is for someone that like a more minimal or clean sound, but for harder styles (think here on everything, not just hard techno) this is a total game changer. Is amazing how you can do a full track with the whole spectrum covered with just 4 tracks, of course drive and the GREAT master compressor helps here, but even other machines with those options, never will make a full sound like this. Instant keeper, and please do not judge from YT videos, because there you will see weak and let's say 30% of what this machine is capable of. Big up Erica!!

Perkons HD_01 - The lay out is just perfect... a great bit of industrial design by the team at Erica Synths! I clicked with it instantly. All powerful and it is so easy to use! A little menu diving with shift functions, but this is kept to a minimum. It has plenty of storage for 64 patterns and 64 kits in one of 64 banks on the supplied SD card. Also where you perform
firmware updates.

The HD_01 has a wide palette for shaping sounds with three different algorithms and three mode switches with different parameters per voice, as well as a High Pass, Band Pass and a Low Pass filter on each channel with a cut-off knob for control. As for each channel having 8 control knobs for Tune, Decay, Parameters 1 & 2, Cut-off, Drive and an FX Send as well as having it own Level setting. Adding your own flavour of FX to each voice. When you access the FX send and returns on the back of the unit, that removes it from the Master Effects section.

The only way to try it, is to buy it... If your local music shop don't stock the HD_01! Don't go by Tube videos. That is in no way helpful... You have play it to understand the complex blend of probabilities, odds 1 & 2, rachets and the routing of the L.F.O. page.

I didn't mention it.... that you can set each voice to drone and attack it with the L.F.O. page to get some other worldly sounds!

All in all, this is a very cool drum machine with lot's of character and endless possibility's.

Great Drum Machine

Really happy with the Perkons. It's perfect for hands on music making in conjunction with my Eurorack setup. Easy to work with in realtime with access to 4 sequencers at once and quick and easy access to all the drum voices and their parameters without menu diving. Great automation recording makes it a super powerful instrument. It's Mono but I don't have an issue with that. Easy to record each channel and further produce in a DAW if that's what you want.
